Why the Severn Counties Foreign & British Bird Society joined the Foreign Bird Federation The society joined the FBF so that their voice could be heard in the support of foreign birds via the National Council for Aviculture to government bodies. S.C.F & B.B.S. Aims & Objectives The society aims and objectives are to promote the breeding and exhibition of foreign birds and most importantly, to be a friendly society. To educate the public in the joys of keeping birds and to this aim we give talks at schools and other similar venues. We also stage displays at various shows including the Royal Bath & West Show at which we have just celebrated our 25th year of attendance at this show. We also aim to raise funds for those not so fortunate as ourselves through the recently renamed, 'Chris Durbin Memorial Fund for S.C.F.& B.B.S.' We initially raised £2000 to help a family in the Gambia and each year since have donated approx £500 to other needy causes. |

Benefits of S.C.F & B.B.S. membership The benefits
of being a member of Severn Counties are to obtain expert knowledge
from other members and to be able to exchange birds. With this in
mind the Severn Counties is a founder member of the South West Breeders
Association who hold two events each year enabling members to sell
stock they have in excess and to buy new stock. We have monthly meeting
at which we invite a speaker to give an informative talk, not just
on birds, but all areas of wildlife. As part of the society we also
arrange a large social calendar enabling members and their families
to join together in events such as Country Walks, Camping weekends,
visits to bird gardens and parks and of course the several nights
out for a meal and a few beers. S.C.F & B.B.S. membership details Membership
